Watts For Breakfast – 04.2021
What a turn out!!
Saturday afternoon, 5:30pm and a quick sharp storm rips across the airfield dropping 20mm in 1/2 an hour, settling the dust, clearing the air and preparing everyone for a great day on Sunday the 18th April, date for the April 2021 Watts for Breakfast?? Fortunately: Make that very fortunately: The air temperature did not drop sufficiently for fog to form (as it did on the very next day), fog being an ever-present number one hazard for event planners at this time of year at Watts Bridge.
And what a wonderful morning it turned out to be, with pleasant temperatures, just a gentle NW breeze with soft puffy cumulus set against a vivid blue sky! More than 120 pilots and navigators from all across SE Queensland heeded the call of a traditional Aussie Breakfast served up with endless cups of coffee – what more could you ask for?? In total, more than 65 aircraft graced Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield parking areas. All types were represented, general and recreational aviation along with quite a roll-up of warbirds, who were no doubt honing their skills for the Red Thunder Tactical Formation Clinic to be held in May and the Brisbane Airshow in July. Indeed those who lingered on the field got a real “after breakfast” treat by way of formation overflies from a group of the previously mentioned warbirds!!! See the Events Calandar for more details.
Ahhhh the sound of massed radial engines and the sight of display smoke 🙂
It’s a good bet there will be more Watts For Breakfasts?? during 2021, so stay tuned to the Watts Website or our Facebook page for all the details.
