2018 Annual General Meeting
A single word best captures the mood of the Watts Bridge 2018 Annual General Meeting: ENGAGEMENT.
With a membership of approximately 140 individuals and corporate entities, it was remarkable that more than 120 votes were cast for each resolution and board position. This can only mean one thing: The members of Watts Bridge are indeed keenly interested in the current and future directions of the airfield and wish to have their voices heard.
It was a long day with a General Meeting in the morning, held in the AAC-QC Clubrooms and the Annual General Meeting held in the QWVAA Clubrooms in the afternoon. In due course, the meeting minutes will no doubt detail the outcome of the many motions on notice. However, what’s of more immediate importance are the results of the election of the 2019 Board of Management. There were multiple candidates for each BoM position, decided by a secret ballot. A slow process perhaps, but this, after all, was democracy in action.
And so the BoM for 2019 is…..
- Richard Waugh – President
- Gill Vardi – Vice President
- Peter Biddle – Secretary
- Shane Tobin – Treasurer
- Peter Freeman – Maintenance & Infrastructure Officer.
At the conclusion of the meeting, when all the decisions had been decided and all officials elected, QWVAA generously provided light refreshments for those who needed them. All in all most everyone agreed it was a good day for the future of the airfield.
As an aside, the volunteers responsible for mowing the airfield decided that the 2018 AGM would be an excellent opportunity to display the privately owned and maintained equipment which is used along with the association’s equipment to keep the airfield in tip-top condition.
