Fire Fighting Readiness
In times gone by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) has used Watts Bridge as a training base to ensure operational readiness. Now it’s for real, with South East Queensland covered in a dense smoke haze which is being generated by the bushfires threatening communities across the region.
There are currently 3 amphibious fire fighting aircraft stationed at the field. A Cessna 206 arrived yesterday afternoon (Sunday 10.11.2019) and a helicopter this morning which has been refuelled. Three different organisations are now operating at Watts Bridge.
